Theme: "Adaptive Engineering in Industry 5.0: Bridging the gap between humans, artificial devices, and data to explore adaptive engineering solutions with lasting impact"

With the focus of the previous themes on current trends, innovation, and sustainable systems emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic, iCEAT 2024 will continue with task of discovering engineering solutions that can effectively adapt to various context and requirements, helping future-proof our society.

One of the realizations coming out of the pandemic is in the advent of highly unpredictable black swan event, robust solutions are no longer enough to counter their significant impacts to society. Thus, there is the need to develop adaptive and resilient engineering solutions that will not only allow us to navigate through new and difficult conditions, but also building the capacity and capability of our systems so that they may revert into a much stronger, more positive state.

And as we enter Industry 5.0, characterized by allowing humans to work better and faster by leveraging advanced, cutting-edge technologies, we are presented with more opportunities to develop ideas that will not only solve current problems and challenges, but will also pave the way into building innovations that are resilient, human-centered, provide societal value, and are relevant for future generations to come.

ORGANIZER

College of Engineering and Agro-industrial Technology

The College of Engineering and Agro-Industrial Technology (CEAT) of the University of the Philippines Los BaƱos (UPLB) traces its roots to the former Department of Agricultural Engineering created in 1912 as one of the departments of the University of the Philippines College of Agriculture. In 1976, the Department was elevated to the Institute of Agricultural Engineering and Technology (INSAET). On February 24, 1983, CEAT was established with the approval of the UP Board of Regents in its 958th meeting. Since then, CEAT has been hailed as one of the best engineering colleges in the country, offering degree programs in Agricultural and Biosystems, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial, Materials, and Mechanical Engineering. It has continuously produced quality graduates as well as developed and generated technologies and knowledge products.
